The Viking skull cigar rest is part of a line of skulls that I am constantly expanding. This was a commission work for a Viking enthusiast, although they did not wear such helmets. I think this design looks great, and the horns help the cigar to hold even more securely. Otherwise, this is a very detailed wood carving. The details of the helmet, the teeth, and even the rivets were all carved with great patience and skill. It is a pity, of course, that in battle this guy lost some teeth, but those were hard times 🙂

Materials and tools for the Viking Skull Cigar Rest

Only hard hornbeam wood can combine such a complex carving of the helmet and the skull itself. The open mouth and lower jaw undoubtedly complicate the work and make the Viking skull cigar rest even more valuable. As for the color, I used both bronze and silver paint for the wooden helmet, combined with alcohol stain. I left the horns without paint and oil, so that they would remain white, but I polished them well.
